  1. My CT does not have really have Julia in her classes so instead I interviewed her Spanish teacher, Ms. Silverman. She states that Julia is always on task and participates in class. She does really well on assignments and on the two sections they have done, she has scored a respective 85% and 90%. She does all of her homework and turns them in on time. She is a good leader. Julia has a reading IEP. She is at grade level and can decode. The issue is that her reading disability hinders her reading comprehension. She needs graphic organizers and other AT devices in her class to help her organize her thoughts. Julia did not start out in Ms. Silverman’s class but was moved into her class at the beginning of the year. Her previous teacher felt she would do better in Ms. Silverman’s class because Ms. Silverman has more experience and a better success record with students who have an IEP. Julia was a little distraught about having to change classrooms but Ms. Silverman told her she would be the expert in the class, since she is a native Spanish speaker. Julia works with another student who has an IEP and they work really well together. One concern that Ms. Silverman had about Julia is that recently she had a project and only turned in half of it. She did not know if Julia did not understand the project and she was perplexed that Julia did not approach her or ask questions about it. She was baffled that Julia handed in a half done project and acted like nothing happened.

  2. Ms. Lewis interview: Ms. Lewis is the teacher that Julia said was her favorite teacher She is a science teacher. Ms. Lewis states that Julia is an incredibly hard worker because she knows she is lacking in some areas in comparison to her peers. Lewis commented on Julia's F and said that misplacing homework is common for her. Despite the forgetfulness, Ms. Lewis emphasized that Julia is "Incredibly creative, insanely creative). I asked her what AT she uses for Julia in her classroom, she said that she gives Julia extra time to complete assignments and takes away/ lessens some of the questions that distract her, and she frequently checks in on Julia to assess where she is at on the assignment.
